  Chris Jericho is the new World Heavyweight Champion

Notes: WWE Elimination Chamber PPV kicked off with the WWE Championship Match. John Cena, Triple H, Ted DiBiase, and Randy Orton were locked inside the glass pods as they watched Kofi Kingston and Sheamus fight it out. The St. Louis crowd was quite energetic as they chanted RKO and Cena sucks at the beginning of the match. Sheamus dominated over Kofi. Triple H came out of his pod to join the match. After his entrance, Triple H dominated over Sheamus. Kofi lied on the steel parameter as Triple H threw Sheamus over the ropes. Kofi got up to jump on top of Sheamus and give him a few punches in the head. Kofi flew off the top rope to knock out Triple H. Randy Orton was released next. Randy threw Sheamus against the chamber walls a few times.  Kofi Kingston jumped off the corner top rope to take out Orton, Triple H, and Sheamus. Orton took advantage of Kofi and aimed for his ribs. He worked on Kofi for awhile until Triple H came up behind him. Orton attempted to pull the RKO on Triple H, but Hunter countered with the Pedigree. Orton countered and threw Triple H over the rope along with Kofi. DiBiase was the next to be released. DiBiase faced Orton and gave him a hand instead. They both attacked Triple H as he lay in a corner. DiBiase and Orton teamed up against Kofi and put his head through the chains to choke him. DiBiase held on to Kofi’s legs as Orton kicked him. Then, they went back to double teaming Triple H. Orton pulled a DDT on Triple H against the steel part of the cage. They waited for Cena to come out of his pod. Once, Cena came out, he came out with a roar fighting both Orton and DiBiase. Cena performed a five knuckle shuffle on Orton and took down DiBiase. Cena threw DiBiase onto the steel via the attitude adjustment. Cody Rhodes gets involved and DiBiase gets himself a lead pipe. He takes down Cena and Orton.

DiBiase eliminated Orton.

Kingston eliminated DiBiase.

Sheamus eliminated Kingston.

Triple H pedigrees Sheamus and eliminates him.

John Cena puts the STFU on Triple H and wins the WWE Championship.

After Cena’s win, Vince McMahon comes out to congratulate Cena and announce that he would defend the title against Batista. Cena looked shocked. Batista runs out and performed the Batista bomb on John Cena to become the new WWE Champion. Wow. For the first time ever, I am really feeling for John Cena. That was totally unexpected.

Drew McIntyre was able to hold his own against Kane. The Big Red Monster threw Drew over the top rope. McIntyre landed hard on his back. McIntyre got back into the ring and grounded Kane and put him into a submission move. Kane got out and threw a few punches at McIntyre. Drew got on top corner rope to jump on top of Kane, but instead met Kane’s boot. Ouch! Kane was on a roll. He kicked McIntyre out of the ring and followed him out. He rolled him back it to deliver more punishment. McIntyre walked out on the match, but Kane followed to deliver a few punches. They got back into the ring. Kane went for the choke slam, but McIntyre put a thumb into Kane’s eye. McIntyre rolled up Kane and retained his title.

Maryse approached Gail Kim backstage and spoke some of her french. Gail Kim snapped back in French, surprising Maryse. She told the sexy Canadian that she was going to beat her. Wow. Gail Kim in an actual promo.

Before the Divas match. Vicki Guerrero came out to trash talk the Raw Divas and ordered a tag team match against Michelle McCool and Layla. McCool pulls that styles clash on Gail Kim and pins her. Maryse attacks Gail Kim after the match. That was a terrible match.

William Regal came out to promote NXT. As the great heel, he boasted his experience and said that all the NXT Rookies have something to learn from him. Edge came out to interrupt him. He announced that he would make his WrestleMania main event decision tomorrow night on RAW. Then he speared Regal for no reason.

The Miz came out to defend his title against MVP. MVP punched The Miz in the jaw and took him down. The Miz grounded MVP with a choke hold. MVP put the The Miz in the electric chair and knocked him out momentarily. The Miz fought back by grounding MVP once again and then throwing a couple of punches. The Miz got MVP into a corner and kicked him a few times. The Miz on the top corner rope about to make a jump and MVP kicks him in  the balls and throws some punches. The Miz head-butted MVP and then they exchanged blows. The Big Show pulls The Miz out of the ring and Mark Henry comes after him. MVP rolls The Miz into the ring. The Big Show throws Mark Henry into the announcer’s area and then goes next to the ring to punch MVP into the temple. The Miz rolls up MVP and retains his US title.

The World Heavyweight Championship began with the Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, John Morrison, and Rey Mysterio encased in the glass pods. CM Punk came out to chastise his opponents and the crowd with a great promo. R-Truth interrupted him with his little rap tune. The chamber match began with R-Truth and CM Punk. R-Truth and Punk exchanged blows until they made their way outside the ring. R-Truth catapulted Punk toward the chamber walls. He got up on the corner top rope and landed on Punk. CM Punk made his comeback and attempted the GTS, but R-Truth got out of it. Punk tried one more time and eliminated R-Truth. CM Punk got back on the mic and teased The Undertaker by saying that he would make him tap like before. Rey Mysterio was released. Punk tried the GTS on Mysterio with no success. Punk threw Mysterio against the sides of the cage. He basically dominated over Rey Mysterio and knocked his head against Chris Jericho’s glass box. Rey Mysterio got on top of Chris Jericho’s box and Punk followed him up. Punk somehow landed on his nuts and Mysterio fliped him onto the steel part of the chamber. Punk got back into the ring and Mysterio flipped from the top rope onto Punk.

Mysterio eliminated CM Punk.

Chris Jericho is released. He threw Mysterio against the chained walls of the chamber a few times. Jericho puts Mysterio into the walls of Jericho.

John Morrison is released and disrupts the walls of Jericho.

John Morrsion eliminates Rey Mysterio.

The Undertaker is released and throws Jericho around the ring. The Undertaker attempts to choke slam both Morrison and Jericho, but the twosome kick Taker in the groin. The Undertaker corners Jericho into an open pod that is almost ripped open as he beats Jericho into pulp. Morrison kicked The Undertaker in the skull, knocking him out momentarily. Morrison heads for the top corner rope for the starship pain, but The Undertaker raises his knee. Jericho stays in his pod. The Undertaker attempts to put Morrison through the last ride, but Morrison holds on to the chain walls. Jericho attacks The Undertaker from behind. Morrison jumps onto Jericho. The Undertaker gets into the mix again and eliminates John Morrison.

Chris Jericho puts The Undertaker into the walls of Jericho. The Undertaker fights his way out and puts Jericho into hells gate. Jericho’s feet find the ropes and The Undertaker has not choice, but to let go. Jericho and The Undertaker go back and forth. The Undertaker attempts to put Jericho through the last ride until Shawn Michaels comes from underneath and puts the sweet chin music on the dead man. Jericho sees an opportunity and goes for a pin.

Chris Jericho eliminates The Undertaker.

Chris Jericho is the new World Heavyweight Champion.

This PPV wasn’t very good. I was very disappointed in the WWE Championship Match and I wasn’t expecting Batista to come out afterward. The Divas match was disastrous. However, the World Heavyweight Championship Match was a great match and worth watching.

  Edge wins the Royal Rumble!

Notes: Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. Anyway, the ECW Championship match opened the 2010 Royal Rumble. Ezekiel Jackson was accompanied by William Regal to the ring. However, Regal’s stay at ringside was short lived as he was kicked out by the referee. He laid his hands on Christians to get him back into the ring, because the title doesn’t change hands on a count out. Jackson dominated the match by smacking Christian around for awhile. Christian made a few come back attempting to pull the kill switch. At one point, Christian jumped on top of Jackson and put the sleeper hold on him. Christian pulled the kill switch in the end and pinned Jackson to the full three count.

A United States Championship match was made at the last minute by Smackdown GM Teddy Long. The Miz hides behind the referee at the beginning of the match and then runs out with a few kicks to MVP. Then, MVP almost gets The Miz with the flying lariat  that was almost good for a pin. This match as pretty even between the two opponents. The Miz takes MVP down on the match with a rear chin lock and works on him for a few minutes. MVP fights out of the submission hold and launches The Miz in the air to land hard on the mat. The Miz’s face meets MVP’s knees. MVP goes for the playmaker, but The Miz opts out for the yakuza kick. MVP goes for the playmaker a few times, but The Miz ducks. The Miz surprises MVP with a small package and wins a three count. The Miz won the match over a disgruntled MVP. After the match, MVP kicked The Miz in the gut and went for the playmaker. This was a great match that lasted about eight minutes.

The Atlanta crowd chanted Randy Orton’s name on and off during the WWE Championship match. Cody Rhodes got involved with the match leading Randy Orton to take advantage with a RKO. Randy went for the pin, but the referee saw Cody’s interference and ended the match with a disqualification. After the match, Randy Orton went ape shit on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Sheamus attacked Randy Orton from behind with a big old kick and leaving him lying on his back in the middle of the ring.  Sheamus retains his title.

Wow! All I can say about the Women’s Championship match lasted about three seconds. Mickie James planted a DDT on McCool and went for a pin. At least the right person won. After the match, a few of the divas came out to congratulate Mickie and brought along a cake. The Divas held down McCool and Layla (in the piggie suit) and fed them the cake. Mickie was victorious.

Rey Mysterio put up a good fight against The Undertaker, but it wasn’t enough to get him a win. Mysterio drop kicked and went for the 619, but The Undertaker caught him and put him through the last ride. It wasn’t enough to keep Rey down. Rey grabbed the ropes and put The Undertaker through the moonsault. Then, Rey hit The Undertaker with a side kick. The Undertaker is bleeding from mouth. He hit Rey in the face with his forearm. Rey came back with a DDT and then a kick strike off the ropes. The Undertaker came back with a mean clothesline and then went for the last ride. Rey Mysterio slid out and aimed at The Undertaker’s knees for a dropkick. Rey hit the 619 and then went for the west coast pop, but was stopped by his opponent. The Undertaker caught him mid-air and took him through the last ride. The Undertaker went for the pin and retained his title. This was a great match. It was expected that The Undertaker would win.

Edge made a HUGE comeback and won the Royal Rumble! I was happy that he won, but I had previously predicted that Shawn Michaels would have taken the win. The battle royal itself was the highlight of the PPV. I like how CM Punk had his little moments in the beginning by taking the mic and preaching straight-edge. He was eventually eliminated by Triple H. The Royal continued with Shawn Michaels turning his back on his partner with the sweet chin music. Michaels was later eliminated by Batista. HBK seemed really conflicted that he went back in the ring to argue with the ref. He kicked the ref in the face and then left the ring. Poor HBK!

This was a great PPV! The battle royal had me on my feet. I am looking forward to seeing Edge return to smackdown Friday.

Notes: Miz vs. Morrison was the opening match of the PPV which lasted for about a good ten minutes. Morrison dominated in the beginning of the match and was close to pinning The Miz without success. He attempted to do the starship pain when he thought he had The Miz for good. The Miz was able to move out of the way and aim at Morrison’s crotch in a not so nice way. Ouch! Then Miz went for the pin and got the win. Backstage, Triple H looked pretty shocked, but pleased and high fived The Big Show. Chris Jericho was in Team Smackdown locker room looking very disappointed. This was a great opening match and a good choice to kick off Bragging Rights.

Cody Rhodes and R-Truth confronted each other backstage and got into a heated discussion. Rhodes reminded that R-Truth lost his initial qualifying match for Team Smackdown and said that Smackdown was a second rate show. R-Truth was definitely offended by Rhodes comments and replied that he was only on WWE Raw because of his father. Big Show then walked up to R-Truth and asked if he really wanted to be making verbal shots at Team Raw. Show told Truth to go back to Chris Jericho and Team Smackdown.

The Divas match lasted about six minutes and it was a good match. I didn’t like how Natalya jobbed for Kelly Kelly at moments of the match. However, I was very happy that Beth Phoenix came out on top by pinning Melina. She put the double underhook facebuster on Melina which looked like it really hurt. In the end, Team Smackdown celebrated in the ring, but I sense a rivalry growing between McCool and Phoenix.

The fatal four way match for the World Heavyweight Championship seemed more like a three way match. CM Punk was noticeably absent from the match, except for moments where he injected himself to interupt 3-counts or to go for a pin. He mostly led Rey Mysterio and Batista to do all of the work of tiring out The Undertaker and Punk would come in a key moments to take advantage. At one point, Batista and The Undertaker were down and Punk came in the ring to pin each with no success. He seemed frustrated that nothing was going as he planned. Later on, Batista and The Undertaker were going at it and Batista put The Undertaker in the Batista bomb. He went for the pin and almost reached a full three count until Rey Mysterio interrupted. Batista was furious and yelled at Rey, “I thought you were my friend.” As the match went on, Batista tried to win the match. The Undertaker put Batista on the last ride and pinned him to a victory. The Undertaker retains his title.

After the match, Josh Matthews came into the ring to interview Rey Mysterio and Batista. Rey said that the match was every man for himself and they tried the best they could. Rey tried to comfort Batista, but he seemed resistant. Matthews persisted with questions and Rey continued to give the same answer. Batista took the mic and looked at Rey. He said that they didn’t come close, but that he came close to winning. Batista looked at his friend and he said that he was tired of having Rey stab him in the back. Rey looked at Batista in disbelief. Then, Batista said something that really caught my attention. “I’m going to rip your head off!” Wow! Batista speared Rey and then beat the crap out of him all around and outside of the ring. Batista is now a heel. This heel turn is sudden, but I am very happy about this new turn of events.

The Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown match was a total fifteen minutes. It surprised me that the match was so short since the last three weeks was building up to this match. This whole PPV was designed for this match and it lasts for fifteen minutes? The Big Show defected from Team Raw to Team Smackdown. He took Kofi Kingston and threw him to the mat. Triple H looked shocked, but then was attacked by The Big Show. As Show was leaving the ring, Chris Jericho took the opportunity to pin Kofi and take the win for Team Smackdown.

The first fall: John Cena took the first win as he put Randy Orton into a submission lock. Orton tapped out immediately and it seemed like more of a tactical move on his part to conserve his energy. 1 – 0

2^nd fall: The next win went to Randy Orton as he RKO’d Cena and then pinned him for the three count. They fought outside the ring for awhile. Orton used one of the television monitors that the commentators use and hit it against Cena’s skull. Ouch! 1 – 1

3^rd fall: Back in the ring, Cena attempted the FU, but was interrupted with Orton’s RKO. Both men were lying knocked out on the mat. They both put their arms over each other and the referee counted to 3. A decision was made to count the fall for both men. 2 – 2

4^th fall: Cena did an FU on top of the second rope with Orton on his rope. Then he went for the cover and succeeded with a three count.3 – 2

5^th fall: After Cena’s victory, Legacy came into the ring to beat up Cena. Kofi Kingston follows with a steel chair to chase them out. DiBiase gave Cena the dream street finisher and let Orton go for the pin. 3 – 3

6^th fall: They made their way into the crowd and eventually backstage where all the pyro equipment was kept. Once the approached the stage area, there was a danger that the men would come in contact with high voltage equipment. Orton took advantage of the dangerous environment and rammed Cena’s head into the pyro machine. Sparks went off. He dragged Cena’s body around and then went for the pin. 3 – 4

7^th fall: Orton played around with the pyro machine for awhile to cause more harm to Cena. There were a set of buttons that he played around with to set off the pyro. The guy in charge of the pyro was livid. Orton dragged Cena to where the pyro shoots out and then played with the buttons some more. The referee repeatedly warned Orton not to do anything, but Orton refused to listen. The pyro went off, but Cena was able to move out of the way. Orton attacked Cena in a fit of rage and they fought back into the ring. Cena was motionless until the last minute where he sprang into action and won a pinfall. 4 – 4

8^th fall: Orton rolled over Cena and won a pinfall. 4 – 5

9^th fall: Cena takes Orton on his shoulders. The ring steps are placed next to the announce table. Cena walked up the steps and throws Orton in an FU through the announce table. Cena covered Orton and won a pinfall. 5 – 5

10^th fall: Cena and Orton are tied. Orton is feeling anxious. They kept fighting. As time winded down, Cena slapped the STFU on Orton. It looked like Orton really wanted to tap out, but there was only 14 seconds left on the clock. With a few seconds left, Orton tapped out. John Cena is the new WWE Champion. 6 – 5

This was a decent PPV. There were a few surprises like Batista’s heel turn. I really liked that Kofi Kingston got some main event air time. Most of the emphasis went to the iron man match and I think that is why most of the matches tonight were short. I think that this PPV could have been better. However, I wasn’t expecting much from this PPV. I, also, underestimated the iron man match. Even though I am upset that Orton lost, this was a very entertaining match.

Notes: WWE Hell in Cell opened with CM Punk defending his World Heavyweight Championship against The Undertaker. CM Punk tried to run away from The Undertaker for a few moments, but he was unsuccessful. The Undertaker caught up to him and remained dominent through out the match. CM Punk avoided the choke slam and the tombstone a few times and one time using a chair to counter Undertaker’s old school. Eventually, The Undertaker choke slammed CM Punk and sent him on a tombstone pile driver. The Undertaker became the new Heavyweight Champion. I was rooting for CM Punk, but I guess it was inevitable for The Undertaker to win. I’m just disappointed about how it lasted about 10 minutes and that they moved this match to the opening of the PPV.

Dolph Ziggler was incredibly aggressive in this match. You could tell that he really wanted to win this match. At one point, John Morrison attempted to do the starship pain on Dolph, but Mr. Ziggler moved out of the way and Morrison landed on his stomach. This was a really entertaining match. Ziggler was dominant in the match and even rolled up Morrison a few times for a pin. He was unsuccessful in the end and looked very shocked and disapointed.

Backstage, Batista introduced Rey Mysterio, who returned after a 30 day suspension. Rey explained that Batista was “familia” and they were going to defeat Jeri-Show for the Unified Tag Team Titles.

Mickie James was about to pull the ddt on Alicia, but Miss Fox countered with a lovely northern lights and pinned her with a bridge. I was acutally pretty impressed with Alicia Fox at moments in this match. However, Mickie James came out victorious at the end of the match.

I was actually pretty excited to see Jeri-Show vs. Rey Mysterio & Batista, despite the fact there was very little build for the match. The match began with Rey Mysterio facing off against Chris Jericho. Rey was dominating over Jericho by doing some impressive high flying moves and coming close to the 619. Rey gave a hard kick to Jericho’s temple that looked painful before going for a pin. He tagged in Batista, who continued to beat down Jericho. Batista tagged Rey in again. Rey got on top of Batista’s shoulders and jumped off to on to Jericho’s body. Great team work between the Batista and Rey Mysterio. Eventually, Jericho tagged The Big Show, who man handled Rey. He took Rey with both his hands and held him by only him head. Then he threw him down and stepped on him with both his feet. Every time, Rey tried to come back, The Big Show would come back to dominate. Chris Jericho was tagged back in and picked up the peices of Big Show’s domination. He even attempted to unmask Rey with no success. In the end, The Big Show pinned Rey. Overall, great match! There was a lot of “Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” moments and you could hear the crowd go crazy.

There were some “ouch” moment in Cens vs. Orton that made me feel uncomfortable. At one point. Orton kept climing up the cage and dropping his own body on top of Cena’s chest. “Ouch!” Orton tortured Cena by using the steel steps. He kicked Cena inthe back of the head that seemed painful and stepped on his hand numerous times. There were a few times the Cena came close to ending the match. Cena put an attitude adjustment on Orton and pinned him him until the kick out at 2. Teh crowd went crazy. I must add that the NJ crowd booed Cena and continually chanted “Cena sucks”. Afterward, Orton got a chair and drove the edge of it to the back of Cena’s neck. “Ouch!” Cena soon  made a come back and slapped the stfu on Orton. Orton tapped, but the ref was knocked out and didn’t notice. John Cena was frustrated and Orton took advantage by giving the RKO. Orton pinned Cena and he kicked out at two. Orton punted Cena in the skull and went for the pin. Cena is the new WWE Champion. This was a great match. Orton came out victorious and Cena was left in the ring with a tear in his eye.

Drew McIntyre defeated R-Truth in a good match. However, I didn’t understand why they put this match after the WWE Championship match.

Legacy wasted no time in beating up DX. The two tag teams were fighting before even entering the cell. Cody Rhodes grabbed a steel chain and ran after Triple H to dave his partner. The Legacy ganged up on Shawn Michaels to attack his bad knee. They spent a good few minutes on Michaels within the cell, until Triple H came crawling down the ramp towards his partner. Triple H came to the cell, only to find that the he was locked out. Legacy beat Shawn Michaels and taunted Triple H. He was helpless to watch his friend suffer in the cell. Triple H got steel chair and tried everything in his power to get inside. Eventually, Triple H decided to leave and he slowly walked away as Legacy ripped apart Shawn Michaels. He could barely stand. After minutes going by, Triple H came back in the cell with a pair of bolt cutters. He got inside the cell and kicked some Legacy butt. DX was coming back slowly. Then, DX isolated Cody Rhodes and locked Ted DiBiase Jr. out of the cell. DX ganged up on Rhodes and put his head in a steel chair. Shawn Michaels jumped off the top rope and hit Rhodes with his shoulder. Then, Triple H got out the sledge hammer and the crowd went wild. He didn’t need it, because Michaels put the sweet chin music on Rhodes and went for the pin. This was a great match and a good end to Hell in a Cell PPV.

Notes: The team of Chris Jericho & The Big Show kicked off WWE Breaking Point with a big win of MVP & Mark Henry. Chris Jericho tried to deliver a code breaker on Mark Henry. Instead he was thrown of the floor by Henry. Once the referee turned his back, The Big Show interfered by throwing punch at Henry, who immediately fell unconscious. This opened up an opportunity for Jericho to take the pin and retain the Unified Tag Team Tiles.

Josh Matthews interviewed Legacy before their match against D-Generatation X. This wasn’t a very impressive promo by Legacy. Ted DiBiase Jr. compared DX to glow sticks. They are bright, but they dim out, people lose interest,  throw them out. I get the analogy, but it was a very poor analogy.

The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston was very entertaining. I was afraid that they might give the belt to The Miz too soon. However, Kofi put the trouble in paradise on The Miz and hopefully their will be feud that will be built in the next few weeks.

Legacy defeated DX. It is good to see DX put over Legacy that way. They fought all over the arena. Legacy ganged up on Triple H as they beat him until he was unconscious. Then they went back to the ring where they ganged up on Shawn Michaels. Rhodes put the figure four on Michaels. DiBiase followed with the Million Dollar Dream. Shawn Michaels seemed to be in pain and it looked as if he was about to tap. The crowd was chanting for Triple H to come and save Shawn. Evetually he did run down, but before coming into the ring, Shawn tapped out.

The Kane/Khali match was boring…and apparently the audience thought so too. They were chanting “boring”.

Eve Torres interviewed CM Punk backstage in a great promo. In a nutshell, he said that people doubted that he’d win the TLC match at Summerslam like they doubt him now in this match. He mentioned Jeff Hardy and briefly mentioned his arrest. He didn’t mention it directly, but he said to read the papers and watch the news which was alluding to Hardy’s recent arrest. I thought it was interesting that Punk mentioned it and I thought it wasn’t appropriate. I was hoping that the WWE would move on from it. Punk said he wasn’t afraid of The Undertaker and didn’t fall for his tricks. The lights went off momentarily when Jimmy Wang Yang came out to scare Punk and Eve. Jimmy had a good laugh of it and wished Punk luck for his match. CM Punk wasn’t having it and attacked him. Great promo. Plus, it was good to see Jimmy Wang Yang when we rarely get to see him at all.

General Manager Tiffany ordered Ezekiel Jackson and Kozlov banned from the ring. So William Regal was left alone to in his match against Christian. Of course, Christian was very pleased with that decision. Regal pulled off a dangerous move in the middle of the match as he dropped Christian on his head for the regalplex. He took the pin, but it was only a two count. Regal came very close to winning the ECW title many times, but was unable to do so. Christian dropped the killswitch and got the 3-count.

Patt Paterson came out and spoke French to the crowd. Dolph Ziggler interrupted him and I noticed that he had a Hulk Hogan style orange tan. Well, the Dolph Ziggler segment went on too long and it seemed that he delivering Abraham Washington style one-liners like he thought Patterson was dead. Ziggler bombed tonight. This was not entertaining and it went on for too long. The crowd began to chant, “Shut the Fuck Up!” Then Ziggler attacked Patterson and walked away. John Morrison went to Patterson’s aide.

Randy Orton took out a bag containing a key and handcuffs. He put the key around his neck and handcuffed John Cena to the ropes. He beat him a few times in the ring and continually asked if he would quit. Then led Cena to the ring post where he cuffed him there and proceeded to beat him. Orton took a singapore cane from earlier tonight and beat it against Cena’s ribs. He began to grow angrier as Cena continually refused to quit. Eventually, John Cena got his hands on the key and handcuffed himself to Orton. This was a typical Cena comeback. They got into the ring and fought until Orton knocked out Cena. Orton looked for the key that was in the middle of the ring. He tried to reach for it and pulled Cena’s body to get to it. He wasn’t successful, because Cena woke up and got Orton into the STFU. It was a good while until Orton said, “I quit!” This was actually an entertaining match. This was mostly due to Randy Orton and his facial expressions, his body language, and his personality. He was the perfect heel in this match.

The CM Punk/ Undertaker match was a bit of a disappointment. It was a short match. (Cena/Orton took up all that time) It seemed that they went for the old Montreal screwjob route for the ending of this match. At first, The Undertaker put Punk in the hells gate and he immediately tapped out. Teddy Long came out and said that the hells gate was still banned from the WWE and ordered that the match be restarted. Punk came up behind The Undertaker to attack him. It went back and forth until CM Punk got The Undertaker into the anaconda vice and the bell rang. The referee gave Punk his title and they both ran out the ring. The Undertaker had an angry look on his face. Punk celebrated on the end of the ramp as Teddy Long stood beside him.

This was an okay PPV. It was definitely a step down from Summerslam. I hated the ending. I thought if anything that they buried Punk.

Notes: Rey Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler in a great SummerSlam opening. The match was fantastic. Unfortunately, Dolph Ziggler didn’t win like I thought he would. He had many chances to win the IC title, but couldn’t get Mysterio for the 3-count. The LA crowd was behind him chanting “Let’s Go Ziggler!”, even though he is a heel. Mysterio made Ziggler look very good in this match. By the end, Mysterio did a mid-air hurricarana and covered Ziggler fo rthe 3-count.

To be honest with you, I could care less about MVP/Swagger feud. I didn’t like the build up leading up to SummerSlam. However, they did have a good match. Swagger was dominating the first half and at one time rammed him into the turnbuckle and almost had him with a pin. MVP kicked out and by the by the end of the match, he was able to beat Swagger with a chono boot and a playmaker.

Nancy O’Dell interviewed Freddy Prinze Jr. in a really cheesy segment. When I heard that O’Dell was going to be a backstage interviewer, I thought that she was just going to be interviewing the WWE Superstars. She asked Prinze about facing off with Randy Orton again. He responded by saying that he won’t be puting on tights anytime soon to be facing of with him in a match. Overall, this was a pretty useless segment.

Chris Jericho and Big Show came out with their crappy mash-up song, but was able to retain their Unified Tag Titles. It was a great match that elevated Cryme Tyme. Near the end, Jericho put JTG into the walls of Jericho. JTG looked like he was about to tap out, but was able to get to the ropes in time. Chris Jericho was able to make JTG look really good by having him survive the walls of Jericho. However, that was shortly lived when Show simply punched JTG and Jericho pulled him up for a pin. That made the ending disappointing. I didn’t think that the match would end so quickly. I knew that Jeri-Show would retain their titles, but I hoped that Cryme Tyme would walk away looking good as well.

CM Punk was interviewed by Josh Matthews and reiterated all of the things that he has said for the last few weeks. He said that everyone in LA was phony like the rest of the world. He mentioned that a friend, who just happened to be a hollywood agent, gave him script of the Jeff Hardy story. He said that the script has a happy ending of Jeff Hardy triumphing at SummerSlam. Punk said that the Hollywood ending was a phony and fantasy. This was a great segment, but I did laugh when Punk said he had a hollywood agent friend. I immediately thought of Ari Gold. Let’s hug it out bitch!

Kane defeated The Great Khali…enough said! I didn’t care for the match and I hope that Kane can move on to a different feud.

DX came out to a grand entrance. Soldiers came out shooting into the air, followed by Triple H and Shawn Michaels coming out in a tank as pyro went off all around them. Coming out in the tank wasn’t very original, since they first did it during the WCW invasion. The match with Legacy went on for about 20 minutes. It was long, but a good tag match. It almost ended in a count out, because Rhodes and Michaels were passed out in the middle of the ring for a few moments. Once they made it to their feet, Michaels put the sweet chin music to Cody Rhodes’ face and then went for the cover. I was hoping that DX would put over Legacy, but that didn’t happen.

Christian vs. Regal for the ECW title was an epic fail! Once they came into the ring, Christian went for the kill switch and then pinned William Regal. Afterwards, Kozlov and Jackson came into the ring to give Christian a beating. I think Christian and William Regal are great wrestlers, but I am so disappointed by the way the match went about.

Randy Orton received a huge pop by the LA crowd, which almost made him seem like face. The match went on for about 15 minutes before Randy Orton decided to leave the ring with his belt, which resulted in a disqualification. The match ended with Lilian Garcia annoucing Randy Orton as the winner, but then saying that Vince McMahon requested the match to be restarted. If Orton had a disqualification, he would lose his title. Orton looked visibly upset, but went back into the ring. Randy Orton then got counted out, but Lilian Garcia announced that if he got a count out once more, he would lose the title. Randy Orton eventually beat John Cena. This was a very unusual match…or matches. I didn’t think it would be necessary for the match to restart over and over again.

The match I was most excited about was CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship. There were lots of great moments of the match, but one highlight was when Jeff did a Swanton Bomb on CM Punk from a high ladder through the announce table. They were out cold for a few moments when the paramedics came out help Hardy onto a stretcher. CM Punk slithered his way into the ring to get himself near a ladder. Hardy, knowing that the end was coming soon, refused help from the paramedics and ran into the ring. Both CM Punk and Jeff Hardy fought for a few moments on top of the ring until Jeff fell off. Punk went to the top and grabbed the Championship belt!

Wait…that’s not all! SummerSlam ended in a spectacular way with CM Punk standing over Jeff Hardy in victory. All of the sudden, the light went out for a few minutes until it went back on. This time, instead of Jeff Hardy’s body lying on the mat, The Undertaker took his place. When CM Punk looked down and noticed that it wasn’t Jeff, The Undertaker rose and then proceeded to choke slam CM Punk! Wow! Words cannot express how I felt at that moment! I am so excited to see a CM Punk/Undertaker feud!

This was a great SummerSlam! I was disappointed that Christian vs. Regal only got 8 seconds, while Cena vs. Orton had like 4 matches in one night. However, CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy stole the show. Plus, Undertaker’s appearance added to the greatness of the ending. Bravo, WWE for a good PPV!
