Notes: Season 2 of WWE NXT started off with the introduction of the brand new Rookies. They fought in the middle of the ring for attention for a short bit.

John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood defeated Zack Ryder & Titus O’Neal

John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood won the first match of Season two. The Pros weren’t very impressed. The Miz pooped on Morrison’s and Cottonwood’s parade by saying they weren’t entertaining and didn’t make much of an impact. Cottonwood made an impression on me with his creepy looks. Like @WellYoureWrong said: “Eli Cottowood looks like he’ll lurk outside your window at night.” So true.

MVP & Percy Watson defeated Husky Harris & Cody Rhodes

So far, I have to say that Percy Watson and Husky Harris are my favorite so far. Percy Watson has personality and definitely stands out from all of the rookies. Harris has a different look, but he seems to have a strong character. Cody Rhodes dissed Harris by saying that he looked like someone from his own family and everyone else in the crowd.

Matt Striker introduced a video package of last night’s NXT invasion with the Pros and Rookies in the ring to watch. The package was about ten minutes long…too long actually. I think they could have just shown us the highlights of the match. Stricker asked Kaval  about what he thought about the Monday Night Raw beat down. Kaval and Lucky Cannon both agreed that the act was cowardly, but it needed to be done to make an impact. All of the NXT Rookies followed suit by saying that it was appropriate to make an impact. Matt Striker officially welcomed the Rookies to NXT and a beat down ensued.

This was a good episode of NXT. It was a simple wrestling show. However, the video package at the end was too long and too much. I think we got the point the first time it a happened. Maybe they could have sharpened their final cut pro skills to edit the video a little tighter.

Notes: WWE Monday Night Raw kicked off with a hometown sweetheart singing the national anthem in honor of President’s day. Sheamus came out afterward to face Randy Orton in a non-title match. Orton almost slithered his way to a victory, until Legacy got involved. Ted DiBiase attacked Sheamus behind the referee, but Sheamus pushed him away. Cody Rhodes crept up behind Sheamus and attacked him just in time for the referee to see. The match ended in a DQ. Randy Orton wasn’t too pleased and took his anger out by RKO-ing Cody Rhodes. Ted DiBiase took a big boot in the face from Sheamus. It’s nice to see WWE Raw starting off with a match instead of the guest host.

Bret Hart came out to state that he came to the WWE to make peace with Vince McMahon. Looking back, Vince lied to Bret, spit in his face, and had Batista come after him. Vince McMahon is the world’s biggest liar. He said that it would have been great to have a victory at WrestleMania on more time. Then he said this: “a victory will last a lifetime, but excellence will last forever.” He thanked the fans and the WWE Superstars. Bret said goodbye and left the ring. The Superstars gave Bret one last goodbye backstage. John Cena ran over to Bret to say goodbye and walked him over to his limo. As we were about to see the last of Bret, a car backs up and crashes the limo as he is about to enter. Bret is led into a ambulance on a stretcher. All I can think is: “What the hell?!” This storyline is taking a bad turn. I was looking forward to seeing Bret Hart face Vince McMahon at WrestleMania. Now it seems very unlikely.

The brand spankin’ new unified tag team champions, The Miz and The Big Show…or better known as Show-Miz…came out to face MVP and Mark Henry in a non-title match. Mark Henry almost destroyed The Miz, but was not successful in a pin due to The Big Show’s leg drop. MVP took advantage of the situation and rolled up The Miz for the three count. I feel a feud coming on!

Jerry Springer came out to spoof his talk show featuring Santino and Kelly Kelly as guests. Kelly Kelly admitted to being pregnant. Santino had slept with Kelly Kelly. Michael Cole admitted to sleeping with Kelly Kelly and then Jerry “The King” Lawler came in to say that had slept with her as well. Who knew Kelly Kelly was such a slut. Enter The Bella Twins, Eve, Chris Masters, The Great Khali, & Hornswoggle. It turns out the WWE Superstars got together to freak Jerry Springer out. Wow! Really! What a waste of time?! Afterward, Mae Young came out to slut things up even more.

Wow. This show is going down the crapper fast. Kofi Kingston and Ted DiBiase Jr. had a very short match. Followed by ten minutes of recaps and commercials. John Cena came out to complain. Dave Batista came on the titantron to laugh at Cena. Mr. Orange himself (no, not Orton) challenged Batista to come down to the ring to fight. Batista refused, but said that he would be on Raw next week. At this point I don’t care.

Singer Jewel and her husband Ty will be hosting Raw next week. I will most definitely not be watching WWE Raw next week.

Triple H came out to face John Cena. Sheamus interfered in the match and beat the crap out of Cena and Triple H. He mostly focused on Triple H. End of show.

This show was disappointing on so many levels. The WWE is giving me so many reasons not to watch.

  Edge wins the Royal Rumble!

Notes: Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. Anyway, the ECW Championship match opened the 2010 Royal Rumble. Ezekiel Jackson was accompanied by William Regal to the ring. However, Regal’s stay at ringside was short lived as he was kicked out by the referee. He laid his hands on Christians to get him back into the ring, because the title doesn’t change hands on a count out. Jackson dominated the match by smacking Christian around for awhile. Christian made a few come back attempting to pull the kill switch. At one point, Christian jumped on top of Jackson and put the sleeper hold on him. Christian pulled the kill switch in the end and pinned Jackson to the full three count.

A United States Championship match was made at the last minute by Smackdown GM Teddy Long. The Miz hides behind the referee at the beginning of the match and then runs out with a few kicks to MVP. Then, MVP almost gets The Miz with the flying lariat  that was almost good for a pin. This match as pretty even between the two opponents. The Miz takes MVP down on the match with a rear chin lock and works on him for a few minutes. MVP fights out of the submission hold and launches The Miz in the air to land hard on the mat. The Miz’s face meets MVP’s knees. MVP goes for the playmaker, but The Miz opts out for the yakuza kick. MVP goes for the playmaker a few times, but The Miz ducks. The Miz surprises MVP with a small package and wins a three count. The Miz won the match over a disgruntled MVP. After the match, MVP kicked The Miz in the gut and went for the playmaker. This was a great match that lasted about eight minutes.

The Atlanta crowd chanted Randy Orton’s name on and off during the WWE Championship match. Cody Rhodes got involved with the match leading Randy Orton to take advantage with a RKO. Randy went for the pin, but the referee saw Cody’s interference and ended the match with a disqualification. After the match, Randy Orton went ape shit on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Sheamus attacked Randy Orton from behind with a big old kick and leaving him lying on his back in the middle of the ring.  Sheamus retains his title.

Wow! All I can say about the Women’s Championship match lasted about three seconds. Mickie James planted a DDT on McCool and went for a pin. At least the right person won. After the match, a few of the divas came out to congratulate Mickie and brought along a cake. The Divas held down McCool and Layla (in the piggie suit) and fed them the cake. Mickie was victorious.

Rey Mysterio put up a good fight against The Undertaker, but it wasn’t enough to get him a win. Mysterio drop kicked and went for the 619, but The Undertaker caught him and put him through the last ride. It wasn’t enough to keep Rey down. Rey grabbed the ropes and put The Undertaker through the moonsault. Then, Rey hit The Undertaker with a side kick. The Undertaker is bleeding from mouth. He hit Rey in the face with his forearm. Rey came back with a DDT and then a kick strike off the ropes. The Undertaker came back with a mean clothesline and then went for the last ride. Rey Mysterio slid out and aimed at The Undertaker’s knees for a dropkick. Rey hit the 619 and then went for the west coast pop, but was stopped by his opponent. The Undertaker caught him mid-air and took him through the last ride. The Undertaker went for the pin and retained his title. This was a great match. It was expected that The Undertaker would win.

Edge made a HUGE comeback and won the Royal Rumble! I was happy that he won, but I had previously predicted that Shawn Michaels would have taken the win. The battle royal itself was the highlight of the PPV. I like how CM Punk had his little moments in the beginning by taking the mic and preaching straight-edge. He was eventually eliminated by Triple H. The Royal continued with Shawn Michaels turning his back on his partner with the sweet chin music. Michaels was later eliminated by Batista. HBK seemed really conflicted that he went back in the ring to argue with the ref. He kicked the ref in the face and then left the ring. Poor HBK!

This was a great PPV! The battle royal had me on my feet. I am looking forward to seeing Edge return to smackdown Friday.

Notes: Wow! Bret is back! When I first heard about the news of Bret coming back to the WWE. I thought to myself: “I’ll believe it when I see it!” Well I believe it now. Bret Hart came out to a screaming crowd and thanked them for never forgetting him. Then he called out Shawn Michaels to bury the hatchet. Shawn Michaels admitted his hand in the Montreal Screwjob and said that Bret deserved it. The crowd booed him. However, he did say that he admired Bret. They spoke about the Montreal Screwjob weighing on their careers. Bret offered his hand in friendship and Shawn waited a few seconds to accept. As they where going their separate ways. Shawn stopped a few minutes and then gave Bret a hug. What?! I was hoping that Shawn might give Bret the sweet chin music or Bret might punch Shawn. They hug?! Well, at least they bury the hatchet in public. Some part of me is thinking that this is a work. Who am I kidding? This is a work!

MVP is now the no. 1 contender for the US Championship. He has to go against his own partner Mark Henry to get the top spot. So…I guess their not friends anymore.

Chris Jericho visited Bret Hart backstage and suggested that Bret should out to screw DX as revenge. Bret refused and said that he wants to go past the Montreal Screwjob. Jericho couldn’t believe what he had said. I’m hoping that it does happen. It would make things more interesting.

The Unified Tag Team Championship match began around the 10:00 hour. It was quite sad to see Hornswoggle escort DX to the ring. DX would have never done something like that 10 years ago. Chris Jericho mocked Hulk Hogan during the match by doing his old routine of holding his hand to his ear. Jericho attempted to put DX into the walls of Jericho a few times during the match with no luck. Hornswoggle got in on the fun by attacking The Big Show once and attempting to attack Jericho. However, Jericho kicked Hornswoggle in the head. Ouch! Poor little guy. Good thing he had on a helmet. Eventually, Triple H pinned Jericho and the sexy beast crawled out of the ring a loser. Goodbye Jericho. You will be sorely missed on Raw.

Randy Orton confronted Vince McMahon and asked if he could punt Bret Hart in the head. Vince said that he despised Orton more than Bret for what he did to his family. Orton said that he would fight Bret Hart on Vince’s behalf, but he would have to be entered into the Royal Rumble as number 30. McMahon refused the offer, saying that he had his own security tonight. Orton walked along and Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes stopped him in the hallway. They mentioned his match with Kofi later on. If Kofi won later on, Cody and Ted would have to kick Randy out of Legacy. Randy Orton looked pretty pissed, but I admire Ted and Cody for having the balls for calling their leader out.

Another guy with some balls, Evan Bourne. Evan interrupted Sheamus and challenged him to match. He said that Sheamus won the belt, because he was given the opportunity. Evan suggested that he could beat Sheamus if given the opportunity. Sheamus laughed it off and accepted the offer. To bad for Evan that Sheamus beat him to a pulp. Poor Evan. He loses…once again. I was kind of hoping he would beat Sheamus in this match.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Cody Rhodes sat ringside to evaluate Randy Orton in his match against Kof Kingston. Kofi gave Orton quite the fight, but lost the match. Randy pinned Kofi with a angst look at DiBiase and Rhodes.

Vince McMahon came out and said that he was not going to call out Bret. He wished the crowd a Happy New Year and reminded everyone that Mike Tyson was hosting Raw next week. Bret wandered out and walked into the ring to confront Vinnie Mac. Vince looked a little afraid that Bret might put him into a sharpshooter. Bret wanted to make a truce and put the past behind him. Vince looked a little bit more comfortable standing next to “The Hitman” and started to kiss his ass. Bret liked what he was hearing. Vince extended his hand in friendship and Bret accepted. They rose their hands in victory, but then Vince kicked Bret in the gut.

This is was a good episode. However, I wasn’t expecting this episode to be great. The way that Raw has been in the last few weeks hasn’t been good. I watched Raw over TNA iMPACT! for Bret Hart and I was satisfied. It seems that they are building a Vinnie Mac vs. Bret Hart brawl at WrestleMania and I am excited about that.

Notes: Jeri-Show kicked off WWE Monday Night Raw by contesting D-Generation X’s claim to being the greates tag team of all time. Chris Jericho brought up the point that DX has never held a tag team title for all the time they have been together. The Big Show established himself as a dominant force in the WWE. He showed off his fist and that it has pummeled many famous figures in the past. DX came out to declare that even though they have never held a tag team title, they have made history…whatever that means. They spoke about their army of sheep in a sea of green…ummm ok? Triple H said that they have amassed an army of DX followers not because of the funny jokes, but because they take life by the throat and get what they want. They hyped TLC. Triple H said they would win the tag team titles and remove Chris Jericho from Raw. The crowed cheered and sang in unison, “na na na na…hey hey hey…goodbye.” Chris Jericho responded that without Jericho, Raw is nothing. So true. Triple H suggests a one-on-one match with Jericho. Jericho accepts under one condition: If Jericho loses, he faces a handicap match with DX. If Triple H loses, he faces Jeri-Show in a handicap match. The segment lasted about fifteen minutes which was a little too long.

The divas match was exciting to see, because it featured Gail Kim as Melina’s tag team partner. I’m hoping they give her a push soon.

Sheamus came out to the ring prior to the match to talk about facing John Cena. He mentioned TLC and that he doesn’t need to pin or make Cena submit, even though he can. He simply needs to put Cena through a table and then he will be taken seriously. Santino Marella came out and cracked some jokes at Sheamus’s expense. Santino asked Sheamus why he didn’t mention him earlier. He suggested that Sheamus was jealous of the two time intercontinental champion, because of he has skin pigmentation. Sheamus wasn’t thrilled with Santino and went for a big clothesline. He threw Santino all over the ring until going after a table and putting him through it.

Oh! Another painful guest host moment. Verne Troyer sat on a stool and addressed the WWE Universe on the ramp. He spoke about SummerSlam and thanked everyone for being so nice to him except for one inconsiderate jerk. Enter The Miz. He made fun of Verne and made some very poor Austin Powers references that I’d rather not quote. Mark Henry came out to defend Verne and The Miz made a Fat Bastard references. *Sigh* Needless to say, Troyer booked The Miz vs. Mark Henry to take place later on.

Kofi Kingston came out prepared for his match against Randy Orton. He got ambushed by Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes on two different occasions. Then, Randy Orton came into the ring and dominated. Kofi came back for a short time, but Randy Orton shot him down. He went for the RKO and won the match.

Afterward, Randy Orton put Kingston through a DDT. He stalked Kingston and then left the ring.

John Cena ran into the ring wanting to make a statement after Sheamus’s attack. He declared war and demanded that Sheamus come out to fight. Instead, Carlito came out to Cena a piece of his mind. He said that he didn’t know Sheamus and he didn’t even like Sheamus. However, He and most of the WWE Superstars hoped that Sheamus would win TLC. Carlito commented on Cena’s wrist bands and time in the spotlight. He asked: Why isn’t Carlito in the spotlight? While Cena might represent the people, Sheamus represents the locker room. Cena warned Carlito, but it wasn’t long before the champ was whoop’in his ass. Cena put Carlito over his shoulders and delivered the FU. Sheamus stood on the ramp and starred down Cena. The champ demanded that Sheamus come down and fight. Sheamus seemed to back off and walked back into the locker room.

Triple H defeated Chris Jericho with the help of Shawn Michaels and sweat chin music. Chioda through Michaels out of the ring after his actions. It didn’t slow down Triple H, who was able to get the pedgree and win the match. Afterwards, Shawn Michaels warned Chris Jericho that next week was his last Raw.

This was a very poor Raw with some good moments. Watching this episode began enjoyable and became painful to watch. Enough already! I want to watch wrestling!

Notes: Miz vs. Morrison was the opening match of the PPV which lasted for about a good ten minutes. Morrison dominated in the beginning of the match and was close to pinning The Miz without success. He attempted to do the starship pain when he thought he had The Miz for good. The Miz was able to move out of the way and aim at Morrison’s crotch in a not so nice way. Ouch! Then Miz went for the pin and got the win. Backstage, Triple H looked pretty shocked, but pleased and high fived The Big Show. Chris Jericho was in Team Smackdown locker room looking very disappointed. This was a great opening match and a good choice to kick off Bragging Rights.

Cody Rhodes and R-Truth confronted each other backstage and got into a heated discussion. Rhodes reminded that R-Truth lost his initial qualifying match for Team Smackdown and said that Smackdown was a second rate show. R-Truth was definitely offended by Rhodes comments and replied that he was only on WWE Raw because of his father. Big Show then walked up to R-Truth and asked if he really wanted to be making verbal shots at Team Raw. Show told Truth to go back to Chris Jericho and Team Smackdown.

The Divas match lasted about six minutes and it was a good match. I didn’t like how Natalya jobbed for Kelly Kelly at moments of the match. However, I was very happy that Beth Phoenix came out on top by pinning Melina. She put the double underhook facebuster on Melina which looked like it really hurt. In the end, Team Smackdown celebrated in the ring, but I sense a rivalry growing between McCool and Phoenix.

The fatal four way match for the World Heavyweight Championship seemed more like a three way match. CM Punk was noticeably absent from the match, except for moments where he injected himself to interupt 3-counts or to go for a pin. He mostly led Rey Mysterio and Batista to do all of the work of tiring out The Undertaker and Punk would come in a key moments to take advantage. At one point, Batista and The Undertaker were down and Punk came in the ring to pin each with no success. He seemed frustrated that nothing was going as he planned. Later on, Batista and The Undertaker were going at it and Batista put The Undertaker in the Batista bomb. He went for the pin and almost reached a full three count until Rey Mysterio interrupted. Batista was furious and yelled at Rey, “I thought you were my friend.” As the match went on, Batista tried to win the match. The Undertaker put Batista on the last ride and pinned him to a victory. The Undertaker retains his title.

After the match, Josh Matthews came into the ring to interview Rey Mysterio and Batista. Rey said that the match was every man for himself and they tried the best they could. Rey tried to comfort Batista, but he seemed resistant. Matthews persisted with questions and Rey continued to give the same answer. Batista took the mic and looked at Rey. He said that they didn’t come close, but that he came close to winning. Batista looked at his friend and he said that he was tired of having Rey stab him in the back. Rey looked at Batista in disbelief. Then, Batista said something that really caught my attention. “I’m going to rip your head off!” Wow! Batista speared Rey and then beat the crap out of him all around and outside of the ring. Batista is now a heel. This heel turn is sudden, but I am very happy about this new turn of events.

The Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown match was a total fifteen minutes. It surprised me that the match was so short since the last three weeks was building up to this match. This whole PPV was designed for this match and it lasts for fifteen minutes? The Big Show defected from Team Raw to Team Smackdown. He took Kofi Kingston and threw him to the mat. Triple H looked shocked, but then was attacked by The Big Show. As Show was leaving the ring, Chris Jericho took the opportunity to pin Kofi and take the win for Team Smackdown.

The first fall: John Cena took the first win as he put Randy Orton into a submission lock. Orton tapped out immediately and it seemed like more of a tactical move on his part to conserve his energy. 1 – 0

2^nd fall: The next win went to Randy Orton as he RKO’d Cena and then pinned him for the three count. They fought outside the ring for awhile. Orton used one of the television monitors that the commentators use and hit it against Cena’s skull. Ouch! 1 – 1

3^rd fall: Back in the ring, Cena attempted the FU, but was interrupted with Orton’s RKO. Both men were lying knocked out on the mat. They both put their arms over each other and the referee counted to 3. A decision was made to count the fall for both men. 2 – 2

4^th fall: Cena did an FU on top of the second rope with Orton on his rope. Then he went for the cover and succeeded with a three count.3 – 2

5^th fall: After Cena’s victory, Legacy came into the ring to beat up Cena. Kofi Kingston follows with a steel chair to chase them out. DiBiase gave Cena the dream street finisher and let Orton go for the pin. 3 – 3

6^th fall: They made their way into the crowd and eventually backstage where all the pyro equipment was kept. Once the approached the stage area, there was a danger that the men would come in contact with high voltage equipment. Orton took advantage of the dangerous environment and rammed Cena’s head into the pyro machine. Sparks went off. He dragged Cena’s body around and then went for the pin. 3 – 4

7^th fall: Orton played around with the pyro machine for awhile to cause more harm to Cena. There were a set of buttons that he played around with to set off the pyro. The guy in charge of the pyro was livid. Orton dragged Cena to where the pyro shoots out and then played with the buttons some more. The referee repeatedly warned Orton not to do anything, but Orton refused to listen. The pyro went off, but Cena was able to move out of the way. Orton attacked Cena in a fit of rage and they fought back into the ring. Cena was motionless until the last minute where he sprang into action and won a pinfall. 4 – 4

8^th fall: Orton rolled over Cena and won a pinfall. 4 – 5

9^th fall: Cena takes Orton on his shoulders. The ring steps are placed next to the announce table. Cena walked up the steps and throws Orton in an FU through the announce table. Cena covered Orton and won a pinfall. 5 – 5

10^th fall: Cena and Orton are tied. Orton is feeling anxious. They kept fighting. As time winded down, Cena slapped the STFU on Orton. It looked like Orton really wanted to tap out, but there was only 14 seconds left on the clock. With a few seconds left, Orton tapped out. John Cena is the new WWE Champion. 6 – 5

This was a decent PPV. There were a few surprises like Batista’s heel turn. I really liked that Kofi Kingston got some main event air time. Most of the emphasis went to the iron man match and I think that is why most of the matches tonight were short. I think that this PPV could have been better. However, I wasn’t expecting much from this PPV. I, also, underestimated the iron man match. Even though I am upset that Orton lost, this was a very entertaining match.
