Notes: Rey Mysterio started off Smackdown by speaking of his win last week in the battle royale. He expressed how sorry he was about The Undertaker’s situation, but that he would be taking advantage by winning the World Heavyweight champion. Jack Swagger came out to interrupt Rey and accusing him of only being capable of being in the fatal four way because of The Undertaker’s absence.  Swagger had said that while Rey was relaxing in Tijuana, he was learning the art of wrestling. He was destined to become World Heavyweight Champion.  Rey responded that what Swagger had said was stupid and continued to make fun of his speech impediment by imitating Sylvester the cat. “Sufferin’ succotash!” CM Punk came out along with the Straight Edge Society. He compared himself to Malcolm X and JFK  and called the attack on John Cena and himself as an assassination. Rey pushed the fact that Punk has lost to him many times and even has a shaved head. Punk denied having a shaved head as he hid under his mask. The Big Show to to talk about bald being beautiful…*sigh* boring. Kane appeared on the titan tron to complain about The Undertakers absence. This segment started off ok, but it went down hill fast.

Rey Mysterio defeated Jack Swagger (c)

Rey Mysterio got a clean win over Jack Swagger as he was able to get three 619’s in a row and pinned him with a full three count. Really?! Isn’t Swagger the World Heavyweight Champion. Why does he keep losing to Rey?

The WWE airs most of the NXT Rookie invasion video package. I really do think that it would serve them better to air a better edited version of the package. However, I do enjoy watching Bryan Danielson yelling at John Cena. “You are not better than me!!!”

Christian defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero)

Christian was about to get the kill switch engage, but Ziggler counters with the sleeper hold. Christian breaks free. Ziggler pushes him into the corner and tries to roll him up. Christian rolls up Ziggler and wins the match. Kurt Hawkings and Vance Archer attacks Christian from behind and then allowing Ziggler to come from behind and apply the sleeper hold. This was a pretty entertaining match. Ziggler received support from his girlfriend, Vickie Guerrero. She hollered at the ref through out the match at ringside. After the match, she ran up to Ziggler to give him a big hug.

Drew McIntyre called Teddy Long to the ring to address some of grievances. He complained about Matt Hardy showing up to Monday Night Raw. So, McIntyre announced that Hardy was banned from Raw, as well. Kofi Kingston interrupted McIntyre’s list of complaints to address some of his own. Kingston said that he was the opposite of McIntyre in that he earns his Intercontinental title like a man. Ooooo! Kofi punches McIntyre with mic in hand.

Big Show defeated CM Punk (via disqualification)

CM Punk had difficulty trying to get the Big Show down. All he could do in the beginning was to kick at Show’s legs. The match then became heated between the two. Kane interrupted the match to deal out some punishment to both Big show and Punk. Smackdown ends with Kane standing in the middle of the ring with mean face.

Notes: Teddy Long announced that The Undertaker was found in a vegetative state by his brother Kane. In other words, he is injured. The Druids came out with a coffin followed by Kane. He said a few words about The Undertaker. Kane made it clear that The Undertaker would be gone forever due to a cowardly act. He said that his brother would rise from the no longer. Soon enough, those responsible will pay for their crime and will be taken to the depths of hell. Kane yelled that there would be vengeance. It is unlikely that The Undertaker is “gone forever”. He will rise from the dead and hopefully take Paul Bearer with him to the living world.

Jack Swagger vs. MVP : Jack Swagger wrapped around MVP in a waist lock. He held on pretty tight for a few minutes before MVP started fighting back. He slapped Swagger and took him off guard. He put a head lock on the World Heavyweight Champion. Once he released, Swagger took to MVP’s abdomen with a few hits his knees. MVP throws some punches and then a big kick to throw of Swagger. The World Heavyweight Champion throws MVP against the ring post a few times. MVP rolls out of the ring, but manages to get back in after the five count. Jack Swagger dominates over MVP by twisting his arm and delivering a boot the the face. He puts MVP into a corner to deliver a few punches and kicks. MVP kicks Swagger in the face and then throws some punches as he holds his injured left arm. Jack Swagger twists MVP’s left arm once more. MVP does all he can to break the hold. Swagger throws MVP down on the ground, but MVP get back up again with all of his strength. MVP gets loose. Swagger struggles to get back on his feet. Swagger and MVP exchange blows. MVP goes for a pin, but Swagger reaches for the rope. MVP gets Swagger into the fishermans buster, but is not successful in a pin. Swagger kicks MVP. He rolls up MVP for a win. This was a good match. The Gate Crashers attack MVP from behind. They stand over a fallen MVP.

Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston: Drew throws Kofi into the corner for some kicks. Kofi fights back with some kicks of his own. McIntyre dominates over Kofi as Matt Hardy walks around as the audience is on their feet. He has a ticket in hand to watch the match front row. McIntyre is distracted by Hardy, but that doesn’t mean that Kofi is saved from getting a beating. Drew pushes Kofi into the steel steps and then throws him into the ring. Drew puts his foot on Kofi’s back and rides him like a surf board and streching him out. Kofi struggles to get out, but Drew continues to dominate over Kofi. The momentum turns when Kofi rolls up Drew with a crucifix. He gets on the top rope for a cross body and then a pin. Drew kicks out and performs a neck breaker. Kofi kicks out of a pin. He  gets back up to do his “boom boom boom”. Drew rolls out of the ring. Kofi jumps out, but injures himself. Drew takes the time to hit Matt Hardy ring side. The contest ends with Kofi rolling up Drew in the S.O.S. Matt Hardy performs the twist of fate after Kofi celebrates his win. Hardy runs out of the arena with security chasing after him.

Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa: Kelly goes for the neck breaker on Rosa. Lay-Cool distracts Kelly and Rosa takes the read. She chokes her on the ropes as she pulls her hair. She goes for the cover, but Kelly kicks out. Rosa puts on the head scissor, and scratches her nails on her face. Kelly jumps on Rosa and to bang her against the mat. Kelly Kelly throws Rosa on the mat face first and then goes for the pin. Lay-Cool seem pretty upset with the win.

Smackdown Battle Royal: The Smackdown roster took part in a battle royal to earn a spot in the fatal four way. After all the hoopla, it came down between Rey Mysterio and Kane. Rey threw Kane over the top rope to earn his spot at the fatal fourway. Congrats to Rey.

Smackdown was a lack luster episode. The explanation of The Undertaker being in a vegetative state way unnecessary. Just say he was injured and lets get it over with. Maybe its me. Maybe I have to stop being so cynical. If I were a kid watching this, I would be eating it up. Maybe I have to open my mind a little bit. However, I do feel like I have seen this storyline before.

Notes: Smackdown opened with Chris Jericho celebrating his win at WrestleMania. He compared Edge to the Smackdown crowd and calling them genetically inferior. He talked about Edge trying to permanently injure him with a spear on the announce table.  He expresses his disgust and calls the crowd losers. Edge comes out to get into Jericho’s face. Edge said that he is like the crowd in that they enjoy Jericho getting speared. Edge asked for a rematch. Jericho blew him off saying that he should go to the back of the line and get out of the ring. Edge exploded by stripping Jericho of his cloths, exposing his taped ribs, and spearing him.

Out comes Jack Swagger to take advantage of the situation. He demands a referee to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. The referee took a while to get the match started, but soon enough Swagger put on the Swagger bomb and won the World Heavyweight Championship. Congrats to Jack Swagger.

Highlights: Shad Gaspard turned on his Cryme Tyme partner after a loss to R-Truth and John Morrison. In an interview with Josh Matthews, Shad said it was his time now.

Drew McIntyre beat the crap out of Matt Hardy before the match even started. McIntyre stood over Hardy’s body when he was over. Well, that one way to eliminate an opponent.

Dolph Ziggler defeated The Great Khali with a sleeper hold. The Great Khali had a revelation and announced to the crowd in his native language that he would go back home to his family for a period of time. When he returned, he would become the World Heavyweight Championship. My goodness. Please, let it not be true.

CM Punk offered his hair in a rematch with Rey Mysterio. He delivered a great promo…actually the Straight-Edge Society delivered a promo praising Punk. They went on to criticize Las Vegas as the place to get booze 24/7. The crowd cheered. Dammit! Don’t they know booze is bad for them.

Beth Phoenix carried the tag team match where she teamed up with Tiffany to face Lay-Cool. Phoenix had a good crowd reaction when she came out with her theme music and when she won the match.

Kane came out to declare that he was bored and frustrated and wanted to take his frustrations out on the NXT Rookies. Kane seemed to be on top of things by elimanating Rookie after Rookie. Then, the NXT Rookies huddled together and decided to gang up on Kane. The referee had to sound the bell as ganging up was illegal. Rookies kept kicking Kane as he was down and tried to dominate him. I feel that this isn’t over.

Ending: Jack Swagger addressed the WWE Universe by reading off of a prepared statement. Chris Jericho came out and demanded that Swagger give back the title. Swagger refused. Edge came out to convince Swagger to give him a title match instead of Jericho. He understood why he cashed in and praised him. Edge credited himself with Swagger’s win and made his case for a title match. Teddy Long came out to settle the issue by arranging a match between the two championship hopefuls. The winner would face Swagger for the title.

Post-WrestleMania Smackdown ended up being a good episode. I enjoyed watching the Divas match…which says a lot. It was a good to see Dolph Ziggler getting his push once more. I happy to see Jack Swagger get a huge push, but I do think it is very early to allow him to win the World Heavyweight Championship. However, I wish him luck and a long title reign.

  Edge wins the Royal Rumble!

Notes: Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. Anyway, the ECW Championship match opened the 2010 Royal Rumble. Ezekiel Jackson was accompanied by William Regal to the ring. However, Regal’s stay at ringside was short lived as he was kicked out by the referee. He laid his hands on Christians to get him back into the ring, because the title doesn’t change hands on a count out. Jackson dominated the match by smacking Christian around for awhile. Christian made a few come back attempting to pull the kill switch. At one point, Christian jumped on top of Jackson and put the sleeper hold on him. Christian pulled the kill switch in the end and pinned Jackson to the full three count.

A United States Championship match was made at the last minute by Smackdown GM Teddy Long. The Miz hides behind the referee at the beginning of the match and then runs out with a few kicks to MVP. Then, MVP almost gets The Miz with the flying lariat  that was almost good for a pin. This match as pretty even between the two opponents. The Miz takes MVP down on the match with a rear chin lock and works on him for a few minutes. MVP fights out of the submission hold and launches The Miz in the air to land hard on the mat. The Miz’s face meets MVP’s knees. MVP goes for the playmaker, but The Miz opts out for the yakuza kick. MVP goes for the playmaker a few times, but The Miz ducks. The Miz surprises MVP with a small package and wins a three count. The Miz won the match over a disgruntled MVP. After the match, MVP kicked The Miz in the gut and went for the playmaker. This was a great match that lasted about eight minutes.

The Atlanta crowd chanted Randy Orton’s name on and off during the WWE Championship match. Cody Rhodes got involved with the match leading Randy Orton to take advantage with a RKO. Randy went for the pin, but the referee saw Cody’s interference and ended the match with a disqualification. After the match, Randy Orton went ape shit on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Sheamus attacked Randy Orton from behind with a big old kick and leaving him lying on his back in the middle of the ring.  Sheamus retains his title.

Wow! All I can say about the Women’s Championship match lasted about three seconds. Mickie James planted a DDT on McCool and went for a pin. At least the right person won. After the match, a few of the divas came out to congratulate Mickie and brought along a cake. The Divas held down McCool and Layla (in the piggie suit) and fed them the cake. Mickie was victorious.

Rey Mysterio put up a good fight against The Undertaker, but it wasn’t enough to get him a win. Mysterio drop kicked and went for the 619, but The Undertaker caught him and put him through the last ride. It wasn’t enough to keep Rey down. Rey grabbed the ropes and put The Undertaker through the moonsault. Then, Rey hit The Undertaker with a side kick. The Undertaker is bleeding from mouth. He hit Rey in the face with his forearm. Rey came back with a DDT and then a kick strike off the ropes. The Undertaker came back with a mean clothesline and then went for the last ride. Rey Mysterio slid out and aimed at The Undertaker’s knees for a dropkick. Rey hit the 619 and then went for the west coast pop, but was stopped by his opponent. The Undertaker caught him mid-air and took him through the last ride. The Undertaker went for the pin and retained his title. This was a great match. It was expected that The Undertaker would win.

Edge made a HUGE comeback and won the Royal Rumble! I was happy that he won, but I had previously predicted that Shawn Michaels would have taken the win. The battle royal itself was the highlight of the PPV. I like how CM Punk had his little moments in the beginning by taking the mic and preaching straight-edge. He was eventually eliminated by Triple H. The Royal continued with Shawn Michaels turning his back on his partner with the sweet chin music. Michaels was later eliminated by Batista. HBK seemed really conflicted that he went back in the ring to argue with the ref. He kicked the ref in the face and then left the ring. Poor HBK!

This was a great PPV! The battle royal had me on my feet. I am looking forward to seeing Edge return to smackdown Friday.

Notes: Wow! Bret is back! When I first heard about the news of Bret coming back to the WWE. I thought to myself: “I’ll believe it when I see it!” Well I believe it now. Bret Hart came out to a screaming crowd and thanked them for never forgetting him. Then he called out Shawn Michaels to bury the hatchet. Shawn Michaels admitted his hand in the Montreal Screwjob and said that Bret deserved it. The crowd booed him. However, he did say that he admired Bret. They spoke about the Montreal Screwjob weighing on their careers. Bret offered his hand in friendship and Shawn waited a few seconds to accept. As they where going their separate ways. Shawn stopped a few minutes and then gave Bret a hug. What?! I was hoping that Shawn might give Bret the sweet chin music or Bret might punch Shawn. They hug?! Well, at least they bury the hatchet in public. Some part of me is thinking that this is a work. Who am I kidding? This is a work!

MVP is now the no. 1 contender for the US Championship. He has to go against his own partner Mark Henry to get the top spot. So…I guess their not friends anymore.

Chris Jericho visited Bret Hart backstage and suggested that Bret should out to screw DX as revenge. Bret refused and said that he wants to go past the Montreal Screwjob. Jericho couldn’t believe what he had said. I’m hoping that it does happen. It would make things more interesting.

The Unified Tag Team Championship match began around the 10:00 hour. It was quite sad to see Hornswoggle escort DX to the ring. DX would have never done something like that 10 years ago. Chris Jericho mocked Hulk Hogan during the match by doing his old routine of holding his hand to his ear. Jericho attempted to put DX into the walls of Jericho a few times during the match with no luck. Hornswoggle got in on the fun by attacking The Big Show once and attempting to attack Jericho. However, Jericho kicked Hornswoggle in the head. Ouch! Poor little guy. Good thing he had on a helmet. Eventually, Triple H pinned Jericho and the sexy beast crawled out of the ring a loser. Goodbye Jericho. You will be sorely missed on Raw.

Randy Orton confronted Vince McMahon and asked if he could punt Bret Hart in the head. Vince said that he despised Orton more than Bret for what he did to his family. Orton said that he would fight Bret Hart on Vince’s behalf, but he would have to be entered into the Royal Rumble as number 30. McMahon refused the offer, saying that he had his own security tonight. Orton walked along and Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes stopped him in the hallway. They mentioned his match with Kofi later on. If Kofi won later on, Cody and Ted would have to kick Randy out of Legacy. Randy Orton looked pretty pissed, but I admire Ted and Cody for having the balls for calling their leader out.

Another guy with some balls, Evan Bourne. Evan interrupted Sheamus and challenged him to match. He said that Sheamus won the belt, because he was given the opportunity. Evan suggested that he could beat Sheamus if given the opportunity. Sheamus laughed it off and accepted the offer. To bad for Evan that Sheamus beat him to a pulp. Poor Evan. He loses…once again. I was kind of hoping he would beat Sheamus in this match.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Cody Rhodes sat ringside to evaluate Randy Orton in his match against Kof Kingston. Kofi gave Orton quite the fight, but lost the match. Randy pinned Kofi with a angst look at DiBiase and Rhodes.

Vince McMahon came out and said that he was not going to call out Bret. He wished the crowd a Happy New Year and reminded everyone that Mike Tyson was hosting Raw next week. Bret wandered out and walked into the ring to confront Vinnie Mac. Vince looked a little afraid that Bret might put him into a sharpshooter. Bret wanted to make a truce and put the past behind him. Vince looked a little bit more comfortable standing next to “The Hitman” and started to kiss his ass. Bret liked what he was hearing. Vince extended his hand in friendship and Bret accepted. They rose their hands in victory, but then Vince kicked Bret in the gut.

This is was a good episode. However, I wasn’t expecting this episode to be great. The way that Raw has been in the last few weeks hasn’t been good. I watched Raw over TNA iMPACT! for Bret Hart and I was satisfied. It seems that they are building a Vinnie Mac vs. Bret Hart brawl at WrestleMania and I am excited about that.
