Phil Shatter vs. Zach Salvation
NWA superstars Shatter and Salvation opened the iPPV with a pretty good opening match. Salvation puts on a few submission moves, but Shatter does not give up. Shatter slams Salvation into the mat and goes for the three count. Shatter wins the match.

Pick 6 Series Match
(5) Kenny King vs. Davey Richards
The crowd was chanting “Let’s go Davey!” as Kenny King was holding Davey Richards down on mat in a submission move. Davey struggles and got out. Kenny and Davey exchange chops. Kenny corners Davey, but Davey pushes him away then get to the top corner rope and flies through the air. Davey seemed pretty desperate throughout the match. He attempted a impressive german suplex from the top corner rope. Then he tried to pin Kenny twice in a row with no success. He put Kenny in to the four-leaf clover, but Kenny finds his way to the ropes. Kenny King and Davey Richards went back and forth from then on. King trying to pin Richards and Richards attempting to pin King with no success. Eventually, Richards put the four leaf clover on King and won the match due to submission. This was a pretty good match that had crowd on its feet.

After, the match Davey said that he wanted to be known as the best in the world and wanted the World title around his waist. Out comes Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels. He says that he has returned to ROH to prove that the Fallen Angel is the best in the world and challenged Davey to a match. This moment was unexpected, but pretty cool nonetheless. Its good to see Christopher Daniels back in ROH.

Butcher’s Rules
Necro Butcher vs. Erick Stevens (w/ Prince Nana)
The Embassy getting involved in the butcher’s rules match as the tried to help Stevens in his match against Necro Butcher. The match was pretty hectic with Necro Butcher taking signs from the audience like “Section 5″ and using it as a weapon to use against Stevens and The Embassy.

Lucha Estrella
Cassandro el Exotico vs. Rhett Titus
Cassandro el Exotico came out to Gloria Gaynor’s “I will survive”. It was so funny to see Rhett’s expression when Exotico came out. Rhett tried to humiliate Cassandro a few times, but Cassandro beat his ass straight up. This was an entertaining match and I have to say that I would like to see more of Cassandro el Exotico.

Grudge Tag Team Match
Kevin Steen & Steve Corino vs. El Generico & Colt Cabana
The El Generico and Kevin Steen confrontation was saved until after the match.Steen and Generico double teamed Cabana as El Generico chickened out from attacking his former partner for the most part. In the end, Steen DQ’d the match by bringing a chair into the ring and using it on Colt Cabana. Blood spewed from Cobana’s forehead as Steen licked it all up. El Generico crawled back into the ring and finally attacked Steen with a kick in the head. El Generico couldn’t stop giving it to Steen and the ROH locker room had no choice, but to seperate the two. Corino gets Steen out of the ring. El Generico goes psycho by attacking everyone. Cabana challenges Steen and Corino to another match, but with no rules.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Match
Jay & Mark Briscoe (c) vs. The Kings of Wrestling (w/ Shane Hagadorn)
The Briscoe’s dominates over the Kings in the beginning of the match. Hero made sure to take control of the match by making a few unsuccessful pins. He tags in Claudio, who dominated over Jay. Hero and Claudio took turns beating on Jay until he made tag to his brother, Mark. Hero grows increasingly frustrated as Mark kicks out of the three count after a punch in the face knocked him out. Hero and Claudio double team Mark. Mark tries to fight off the Kings. The Kings make sure that Mark doesn’t get to Jay. Claudio pulls Jay away from the apron as Mark approaches for a tag. Jay fights off Claudio. Mark is taking a beating from Hero. Mark finally tags in Jay and he is dominating the Kings. Jay clothslines Hero a few times. The match grew to desperation later on as Claudio takes Jay on the Unidentified Flying Oppnent. Jay kicks out. Claudio takes Jay on another big spin and Hero kicking him in the face. Ouch! Jay kicks out of a pin. Both teams are giving their all as the crowd chants “This is awesome!” The Kings pull a KRS1 on Mark and go for the pin. Jay interferres with the three count at the last minute. Jay goes for the Jay driller on Claudio and goes for the pin, but Hero interferes. The Briscoes pull out the doomsday with Claudio for the second time, but Sean throws Jay of balance on the top corner rope. The Briscoes and The Kings go back and forth. Hero pulls out his lucky elbow pad on Jay. Claudio goes for the pin and wins the match.

ROH World Championship Match – Triple Threat Rules
Tyler Black (c) vs. Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong
Austin Aries removed himself from the match to allow Tyler Black and Roderick Strong to work out their respect issues. Tyler Black and Roderick Strong grappled each other as Aries leached by the apron to see the action. Aries pull black from the ring from his ankle and then Roderick Strong suplexes Aries. Tyler gets back into the ring and makes a strong comeback against Strong. They exchange chops. Austin Aries seems to pick and choose his spots between Black and Strong through out the match. The fight goes outside the ring. Roderick Strong suplexes Aries on the cold hard floor. He takes Aries back into the ring. He streches him out until Aries can reverse into a pin. Strong kicks out. Strong tries to choke Aries out. Tyler attacks Strong from behind. The match carries on with Strong putting Black through a back breaker on the apron of the ring. Aries spears himself as Strong as the target, but then lands on the cold hard floor outside the ring. He is knocked out momentarily. Strong and Black go back and forth in the ring. Aries slithers in. Aries attempts to suplex Strong off of the top corner, but Tyler comes from underneath to power bomb Aries. Aries counters with a hurricarana. The match took a brutal turn as all three opponents gave their all to win the match. Aries took advantage of Strong and eliminated him from the match. It was just Tyler Black and Austin Aries. Austin Aries goes to the top corner, but Tyler Black kicks him in the head. He punches him a few times before throwing Austin Aries into a superplex followed by gods last gift followed by a pin. Aries kicks out. Kenny King gets involved with the match to help Aries, but with no success. Tyler Black hits the gods last gift once more and goes for the three count. Black keeps his title, but Aries attacks Black.

Lucha Super Estrella
Blue Demon, Jr. & Misterioso vs. Super Parka & Magno
Lucha Libre ended the night with a great tag team match. Misterioso ended up with his mask ripped off his head and kept fighting even though he was exposed. I have to give credit to these guy who had to follow the triple threat match. They got the crowd really into the match and chanting “Lucha Libre”. This match was the perfect ending to the iPPV.

Overall, The Big Bang! was entertaining. I wish that the Grudge Tag Team Match with Steen and Corino facing El Generico and Cabana wouldn’t have ended in a DQ. I guess this feud will be extended, but I look forward to seeing what happens. I loved the inclusion of Lucha Libre into the iPPV, also. Hopefully, we will be seeing more of that in the future iPPVs. The Triple Threat Match was great, but I would have loved to see Aries win the title a third time. Of coarse, I am a mark for the heel. Plus, Aries has a lot of personality.

  Austin Aries (c) vs. Tyler Black – draw due to 60 minute time limit

Notes: Final Battle 2009 kicked off with the pick six four corners of survival match. Cabana and Omega teamed up against Titus and Castagnoli for half the match. They made for a great team until the Omega turned on Cabana to try to get him for the pin. No on person dominated the match, but in the end Castagnoli won the match. Omega and Cabana were both very entertaining during the match. They were fooling around and having a good time.

Delirious was left to fend for himself after Necro Butcher wasn’t able to get to the venue due to the snow storm. After Bison and Stevens beat Delirious to pulp, Pelly Primo comes out to save him. Without success, Primo gets thrown out of the ring. Enter, Bobby Dempsey to save the day. Delirious and Dempsey dominated the match afterward. Eventually, Bison and Stevens focused on Delirious until he couldn’t participate in the match. They turned their attention towards Dempsey. He took some major bumps and kicked out many times. Bison grew increasingly frustrated until he hit the powerbomb from the top rope and got a full three count.

Chris Hero had Hagadorn and Del Rey by his side as he battled Eddie Kingston. He used a few weapons in the ring such as a steel chain he used the wrap around Kingston’s neck. The crowd was split between Hero and Kingston until the Ouch! moment of the match. Hero managed to get a barricade into the ring (w/ the help of Hagadorn) and placed it in between the top and middle ropes, in the corner. He got Kingston to the top rope and dropped him on his neck on the barricade. Ouch! Hero went for the pin, but Kingston kicked out at two. The crowd was behind Kingston 100% as they chanted “Eddie, Eddie, Eddie!” Hagadorn and Del Rey got involved by attacking Kingston in the ring. Kingston ran them off and then suplexed Hero. Chris Hero came back by using is special elbow pad to deliver the kiss of death and elbow smash. Hero went for the pin once again, but Kingston kicked out at two. Kingston got a hold of Hero’s elbow pad and delivered his own elbow smash. Kingston went for the pin and won over Hero. The crowd was fully behind him. Great match.

The Young Bucks had a difficult time getting Steen down. Steen locked Nick into a sharpshooter and kept that hold as Matt tried to break it. Steen spat in Matt’s face and El Generico clothes lined him out of the ring. Steen kept the hold a few more minutes until his leg injury gave out. He tried to put Nick into the package piledriver, but was not successful in lifting him. With the help of Matt, Nick was able to break out. The Young Bucks double teamed Steen with more bang with your buck  and went for the double pin. Steen kicked out in the two count with The Young Bucks looking surprised. The Young Bucks each took turns to kick Steen in the head and then went for the double superkick. They pinned Steen for the win. The match lasted about twenty minutes and it was great to watch.

Afterwards, Kevin Steen gave what seemed to be a farewell speech. He thanked the fans and ROH for being the best company in the world. He looked at El Generico and said he hated his guts. Steen attacked him and gave a chair shot to his skull. Colt Cabana ran in to save El Generico and Steen left the ring. The crowd is left to wonder why Kevin Steen attacked El Generico.

Intermission.

Kenny King vs. Roderick Strong was a great match. Both competitors displayed a great deal of athleticism and flexibility. The match lasted about fourteen minutes before King gained a win by rolling up Roderick and pulling on his tights. The referee didn’t see the pulling of the tights.

It was announced prior to the match that Jack Evans and Teddy Hart were not able to make it to the match due to the snow storm. Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov continued to compete in a singles match. Romero and Koslov were pretty entertaining to watch. They had some good spots like Romero lying in the stands as Koslov jumps off the top rope. The crowd seemed pretty into the match as some chanted “Russia” and others chanted “Cuba”. In the end Romero got a win over Koslov.

The American Wolves were impressive as they worked really well as one team. They put The Briscoes into the sterero submissions simultaneously, almost making them tap. The Briscoes broke it off and rolled them up for a pin resulting in a two count. Later on, The Briscoes double teamed Edwards. Jay put Edwards through the Jaydriller and Mark flew off the top rope with the doomsday device. They made the pin and won the match. Afterwards, Chris Hero and Castagnoli ambushed the new Tag Team Champions. As The Briscoes lied on the mat, Hero and Castagnoli held up the titles as the crowd chanted “kings of wrestling”. Great match.

Jack Evans and Teddy Hart managed to get through the snow storm and participated in an unofficial singles match. This match was very entertaining. I am happy that Evans and Hart managed to make it to Final Battle 2009. The match lasted about eight minutes with Jack Evans making a 630 splash and pinning Hart for the three count. Afterward, Evans thanked his opponent. Teddy Hart asked for a rematch. Another great match!

Wow! I didn’t expect the World Title Match to last that long. It went past the 60 minute limit and ended in a draw. Austin Aries walked out on the match a few times leaving Tyler Black chasing after him. In the beginning, Austin dominated the match. As time went on, Tyler gained momentum. He fought back and even kicked Aries into a table and injuring his shoulder. Austin tried escaping through the crowd with no success. He headed towards the entrance ramp. Tyler Black got Aries onto his shoulder and dropped him on the ramp. Austin was busted up and lying the ramp for quite sometime. Eventually, they both got back into the ring. Once the time limit expired, they both continued to trade blows. Tyler Black came very close to winning the title, but was no successful in the end.

A fight broke out in the crowd and it turned out to be The Briscoes trading blows with Hero and Castagnoli.

This was a great PPV. I enjoyed watching every match and I loved watching the late appearances of Jack Evans and Teddy Hart. Good job Ring of Honor.
